Dr Wazed real patriot with excellent human qualities
RANGPUR, May 12, 2014 (BSS) - Speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said that noted nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah was a real patriot, completely greedless and enlightened citizen with excellent human qualities.
She was addressing a memorial meeting on Dr Wazed, husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, organised by Pirganj upazila Awami League (AL) at Pirganj upazila parishad auditorium in observance of his fifth death anniversary today as the chief guest.
Presided over by President of Pirganj upazila AL Motaharul Haque Bablu, Organising Secretary of AL Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Reajul Karim Raju, nephew of Dr Wazed and Vice President of district AL Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, addressed.
Engineer Sayeed Reza Shanto, General Secretary of Pirganj upazila AL Advocate Tanzibul Islam Shamim, General Secretary of Pirganj upazila Mohila AL Mahmuda Akhter, AL leaders Mokbul Hossain Sarder, Monayem Hossain Sarker, AL leaders Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, also spoke.
Earlier, the Speaker exchanged views with the upazila level government officials at the same venue and asked them for conducting their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication in serving the people and accelerating uplift of the area.
Later, she placed wreath at the grave of Dr Wazed in his paternal village Fatehpur, offered Fateha and munajats seeking eternal peace for Dr Wazed and wellbeing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Sayma Wazed Putul and other family members.
The Speaker said Dr Wazed has paved the way for flourishing science and technology based education and research activities taking the nation much ahead and his tremendous contribution to nuclear science has brought international reputation for the country.
Terming Dr Wazed as a complete honest and greedless person with noble character, thoughts, beliefs and human qualities, she said that he served the nation selflessly with the highest degree of patriotism, love and passion thinking nothing for him.
Dr Wazed never thought to enjoy power for self-interests and he will remain immortal as a model source of inspiration among the people forever for his tremendous contribution in serving the country and taking it forward.
Dr Shirin urged the people irrespective of political affiliations, including students and young generations, to follow ideals of Dr Wazed in building a technologically developed middle income digital Bangladesh by 2021 to realize Bangabandhu\'s dream.
