In his speech Amarjeet Sohi underlined his initiavite to continue to build safe, strong, and inclusive communities, and he promised to work towards a brighter future for all Canadians at the federal level.

I lived in Edmonton-Mill Woods area for 35 years. I know this riding, I know its people, and I know this city. [...] I have proven to be a strong and effective voice on city council, and now I am ready to serve you as a member of parliament in Ottawa.

He also criticized the government's strategies on immigration, integration, and the cutting of health benefits.

Justin Trudeau applauded Sohi's life experience and campaign goal, and acknowledged Sohi as tremendously valuable to the Liberal Party. Trudeau also underlined his plans for changes to the tax system and voiced out his support for low-income and middle-class Canadians.

We can do more for the people who need it by doing less for the people who don’t. That is our plan.

Amarjeet Sohi was born in India and came to Edmonton in 1981. The former bus driver has been involved with the Mill Woods community as volunteer and as the founding member of the Mill Woods Crime Council.
